You know you've been living in Asia too long when...
you start to believe your students when they say you have yellow eyes. My eyes were brown in the United States! Wait, they do look a bit yellow, don't they?
And is my hair actually golden instead of dark brown? Why do colors change overseas????
And was it a bad idea to put the flash so close to my eye??

dont worry amy. i was lovingly called `blondie` by some during my stay in nicaragua. and my kids here are constantly trying to take me by surprise with the questions `do you have a perm?!` and `are you wearing contacts?!` because they dont believe that my hair is curly naturally or that anyone has hazel eyes. and i have decidely brown hair and browner hazel eyes. have you ever noticed that they often use the same word for green and blue as well? like they call the stoplights blue.
