Weekend Escape to Miyako
Last weekend, I took a trip with some friends to Miyako Island. Look how pretty it is there! We found a Greek restaurant for lunch and then took a trip to the beach.

Then we made a short stop to eat the tastiest beni imo (purple sweet potato) mochi ever!

There was a sunflower festival going on... which I think just meant that people were taking pictures of sunflowers. Not so much of a festival, but the flowers were pretty. You can also see another lovely kind of flower found in Miyako. And I didn't even need a festival to photograph it!

We also found some tunnels. Here is Paul going exploring.

Then we went to the German Culture Village. It was very random to see German style buildings on a small tropical island in Japan. I bet it would be really weird to live in one of these apartments!

And then shortly before going back to the airport, Christina amused herself by playing with a puppy she found outside a shop. Does it look good with a mohawk?
