Even the most boring details of life can become interesting if you put them in a blog... right?

It's raining in my apartment.

Ok, I
am caving in to peer pressure. Now you can stop asking me to make a blog. I think I'll tell you about the weather in Okinawa. It is very hot. And it rains almost every day- in my apartment! My ceiling has been leaking since August. You might think this leaking was due to rain falling from the sky, but I live on the first floor. I was very confused. But to help explain things, look at my apartment building. It is very old.

I had to wait 3 weeks for someone to take a look at the ceiling. Or actually for 4 someones to look at my ceiling. These men came to my apartment and looked up. They probably said, "Look! Her ceiling is leaking! It is a very big leak. Hmm glad I don't live here." Or at least something similar. I don't know- they were speaking Japanese. Then I had to wait for 2 more weeks until a different guy came to my apartment to look at the leak. (This man was 5 hours late.) He took a photograph of my ceiling and then left. This man came back the next week and spent 3 days in my apartment. Too bad we couldn't talk to each other or he could have been my new best friend!

So this man seemed to think that he had fixed my leak, and he gave me back my spare key. But 2 days later I saw a big puddle of water on my hardwood floor! I called the repair man and told him the ceiling was leaking again. (This is a bit of a challenge if you can't speak Japanese.) He came back and drilled some holes in my ceiling. He also was making a lot of noise in the apartment upstairs. Then he gave me the key back again. It didn't rain in my apartment yesterday, so hopefully the leak is fixed this time. If not, I could always turn my apartment into a swimming pool...

Update: my ceiling is leaking again! I just called my friend Ceiling Repair Man to let him know.

But on the bright side, having a leaky ceiling gives you an excuse to learn how to say cool things like "Tenjo ga mizu more shite imasu." Even if you're just asking someone to fix your roof, it sounds really exotic ;-)

P.S. What does Shinbun mean?
